A Close Shave for Boulevard? ~

Mark Bucher, Artistic Director
With YOUR response to this appeal, the future holds a “close shave” for Boulevard Theatre’s Artistic Director Mark Bucher.

But WITHOUT your help? Milwaukee’s beloved Boulevard faces a “razor’s edge” that will definitely dull our “cutting edge” productions.

This October, Milwaukee’s United Performing Arts Fund informed Boulevard that UPAF and its grant review panel denied ALL funding for Boulevard. This denial trimmed $24,000 from our planned 2016-2017 budget. Unless other funds are secured, this last-minute denial of projected funding will devastate our remaining season.

WE initiated the Bay View renaissance, birthed countless new theatres, and showcased hundreds of LOCAL theatrical artists. Many of these same artists now enjoy successful theatrical careers. I ask that you direct your year end support to the Boulevard Theatre. And WHEN you funnel friendly funds to a respected local theatre (now enjoying its 31st season)…

If YOU help raise just HALF of the missing $24,000 ($12,000 by December 31, 2016), I’ll reveal my beardless kisser for the first time in 40 years! We need a few friends, supporters, and donors to keep us from the proverbial “chopping block.” Boulevard Theatre is worth your UNITED support. We need YOUR help to continue PERFORMING, and the ARTS we had planned to present in 2017 literally cry out for YOUR assistance. We truly count on YOUR help to put the “fun” back into FUND.

The Boulevard Theatre’s 31st season is supported in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board, with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as a grant from CAMPAC (Milwaukee County Arts Fund), The Cream City Foundation’s Sutton Place Fund, and by generous contributions from David Paris, Ron and Carol Scott, Jan Serr and John Shannon, and Ralph Bielenberg. YOUR name should be on this list!

The Boulevard has also been recently supported by the Northwestern Mutual Foundation, the Cream City Foundation, UPAF, the Joseph R. Pabst Infrastructure Fund, and generous donors like you.

Please consider joining our much-appreciated group of theatre sponsors this season by making your donation right now. Your support helps transform Milwaukee neighborhoods as well as the lives and careers of young actors. Thank you!
